About Dambulla
Dambulla is home to the famous Dambulla Cave Temple (Golden Temple), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The five caves contain over 150 Buddha statues and stunning ceiling paintings dating back to the 1st century BC. The temple sits atop a massive rock with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Dambulla also serves as a gateway to Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle.
