About Anuradhapura
Anuradhapura, one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Founded in the 4th century BC, the city was the center of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries. Today, it remains a sacred pilgrimage site with numerous ancient stupas, monasteries, and the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree - the oldest documented tree in the world, grown from a cutting of Buddha's Bodhi tree.
